Max Planck Society eyes Florida research center

The Max Planck Society is considering developing a 100,000-square foot research facility in Florida Atlantic University's Jupiter campus. The site is close to another research center in Palm Beach County being developed by Scripps Research Institute. In order for the project to get the green light, county officials would have to bless the project and the state would have to come up with matching funds. So far, though, that hasn't been an issue, as Florida pushes ahead with ambitious plans to make a name for itself as an international hub for biomedical research. Scripps and other research facilities have been drawn to the Sunshine State.
